Israel has experienced a terrorist attack on Monday, which demonstrates the potential spread of violence due to the war in Gaza. Two Palestinian relatives from a village in the West Bank, aged 44 and 25, used up to three cars to carry out a multiple hit-and-run in the city of Raanana, north of Tel Aviv, which resulted in the death of an elderly woman and injuries to 19 other people, four of them in critical condition. Eight of the wounded are minors. The woman was fatally stabbed after her vehicle was stolen to initiate the hit-and-runs. According to Israeli public television, the attackers were sending messages on their mobile phones using a Telegram group, boasting about their “revenge.” Both attackers have been arrested.

Meanwhile, the United States military has reported that a ballistic missile fired by Houthi militants has hit a container ship owned and operated by the United States, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands. The ship has not suffered significant damage and there have been no casualties, so it continues its journey, according to the publication. The attack occurred around four o’clock in the afternoon, local time in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, which corresponds to two o’clock in the afternoon in mainland Spain. The missile was fired from Yemeni territory controlled by the Houthis, according to the US statement. According to the British maritime security firm Ambrey, the attack “targeted U.S. interests in response to U.S. attacks on Houthi military positions in Yemen.” Nasruldeen Amer, spokesman for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, has stated that U.S. and British ships have become “legitimate targets” for the rebels following the attacks launched by both countries against Yemen last week in the Red Sea.

On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has announced that it attacked “terrorist groups” on Monday morning (local time) about 40 kilometers northeast of Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. According to the official news agency IRNA, Iranian forces destroyed an “Israeli espionage headquarters” and “anti-Iranian terrorist groups” gathered at various locations in the region using ballistic missiles.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres spoke on Monday at the United Nations about the 100 days of war and urged Israel and Lebanon, regarding the tension on the border these days, not to “play with fire on the Blue Line [the ceasefire line supervised by the United Nations that divides the two countries].” Guterres reiterated the call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. “What we are witnessing in Gaza cannot happen in Lebanon, and we cannot allow what is happening in Gaza to continue,” said the Portuguese official. “Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.” He also insisted on demanding the release of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
