Inés Arrimadas cierra su etapa en la política de forma definitiva y se incorpora a una compañía de energía renovable.

Inés Arrimadas formalizes her departure from politics and returns to the private sector with a renewable energy company. The former president of Ciudadanos, former Catalan parliamentarian, and former spokesperson in the Congress of Deputies will join Recurrent Energy, a clean energy company integrated into the Canadian Solar Inc group, starting next month. Arrimadas announced last April that she was leaving Catalonia to settle in Jerez de la Frontera for “family” reasons, and in a social media message, she has now confessed to feeling “very happy” about her new professional challenge.

Arrimadas joins the staff of a “world leader” in renewables, especially solar energy. Among her new responsibilities will be ESG strategy (environmental, social, and governance criteria), communication, public affairs, and institutional relations of the company, in close collaboration with the group she is part of, the global giant Canadian Solar Inc. The subsidiary she will work for, Recurrent Energy, has a presence in 30 countries on 6 continents and has a 14-year track record in the sector, where it has developed, financed, and built a portfolio of 9 GW of solar energy and 3 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) worldwide. The company is currently seeking further expansion to consolidate its position as a global leader in the industry.

At 42 years old and a mother of two children, Arrimadas recently separated from Xavier Cima, former deputy of Convergència i Unió, who currently works as an entrepreneur and consultant. In December 2017, Arrimadas led the Ciudadanos list that won the elections in Catalonia. During the tumultuous times of the pro-independence movement, her candidacy for the presidency of the Generalitat received more than one million votes. The pact among the independentist parties kept her away from the government. After a decade in the forefront of politics, where she served as a member of the Parliament of Catalonia, a representative in the Congress, and a parliamentary spokesperson, in addition to being the president of Ciudadanos, Arrimadas resumes her career in the private sector, where she already had extensive experience as a consultant before entering politics.
