Foment will amend its statutes to reinstate Sánchez Llibre as president in Spain.

In Spain, several board members of Foment del Treball will propose a change to the organization’s statutes on Monday to eliminate the current term limit for its president so that Josep Sánchez Llibre can run for reelection in 2026.

The initiative is expected to be raised during the board meeting of the organization, although the matter is not currently on the agenda, so another meeting would need to be convened for its approval.

This proposal to remove the limitation of two consecutive terms for the president is widely supported within the sectors of Foment, indicating that the amendment to the statutes will be approved, and Sánchez Llibre will have his reelection secured for a third term at the helm of the organization, as reported by La Vanguardia.

Sánchez Llibre has been the president of Foment since November 2018 and was reelected in July 2022. Therefore, his second term was supposed to end in 2026. The Spanish employer’s organization CEOE also approved the repeal of the term limit in July of last year.
